Unlocking the Secrets of River Pollution: Analyzing Organic Pollutants in Sediments—Experimental Study

چکیده
Untreated wastewater released into rivers can result in water pollution, the spread of waterborne diseases, harm to ecosystems, contamination soil and groundwater, as well air pollution respiratory problems for nearby humans animals due release greenhouse gases. The current study aims investigate recent input anthropogenic loads using linear alkylbenzene (LAB), which is one molecular chemical markers with application sophisticated model statistical analyses. In order determine compositions LABs, act indicators, surface sediment samples from Muar Kim were collected. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was utilized identify LABs their sources degradation. ANOVA Pearson correlation coefficient employed significance differences between sampling locations, a threshold p < 0.05. To assess degradation degree efficacy treatment plants (WWTPs), identified based on chains ranging long short (L/S), C13/C12 homolog, internal external (I/E) congeners. results indicated that LAB concentrations studied areas River ranged 87.4 188.1 ng g−1dw. There significant homology at 0.05, percentage stations contained C13-LAB homology. Based ratios determined, 1.7 2.2 areas, it concluded effluents primary secondary are being discharged marine ecosystem those areas. up 43% interrogated locations. It be inferred there requirement enhancing WWTPs, while also acknowledging identifying contamination.

Persistent organic pollutants and sedimentary organic matter properties: a case study in the Kishon River, Israel.
The Kishon River, the second largest coastal river in Israel, has been severely polluted for several decades. Sediments from upstream and downstream sites of the river were analyzed, lipid-extracted and evaluated for phenanthrene uptake. Total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) concentration in downstream sediments was 299 microg kg(-1), consisting mostly of petrogenic-derived PAHs. Downstre...
